Not letting her off the hook.I love the way Jones delivers this criticism without any show of anger or attempt to berate Annie. Just a simple statement of the facts.

Oh come on Annie, can't you just come back tomorrow? AFTER saying those things in person?
Also, WHAT IS HAPPENING?

I think... I think Annie might be turned into a forest creature for the summer.

ZA WALDO!
I guess someone just stopped time. First time anyone's gotten the best of Jones as far as I can tell.
Was it Coyote or...what? Why?

Everything turning a shade of grey (except Annie) had me immediately thinking of Jeanne. But her showing up there wouldn't make any sense at all!No wait! Why is the forest turning into Zimmingham!?

Yay, she remembered Kat.
Also some MildSpec: "You put many people in danger today. Not just your friends, but everyone at the Court" means Coyote's promise to leave the Court alone is contingent on them leaving the Forest alone.

It could just refer to how she mentioned Surma's betrayal.

It could just refer to how she mentioned Surma's betrayal. I still don't understand how that endangers them. In such as it might result in Reynardine's feeling towards the court and Annie in particular taking on a slightly more hostile color. Remember that the court sees Rey as a danger since he has (part of) Coyote's power, but other than him has not promised to leave the court alone. (There still of course is the little detail of Annie's ownership over the doll body, but I have no doubt that Rey with Coyote's help, if he wanted, would find a way out of this dilemma).

I wonder if part of that danger includes the fact Renard knows the truth now, I hope she didn't unleash him when she escaped. Otherwise I don't get how the entire Court would be in danger.

I was under the impression "You put many people in danger today. Not just your friends, but everyone at the Court" referred to the fact that running into the forest without sending up a signal could have been taken much worse by the forest.

You're right there. Also, with Annie out of the Court, Coyote's promise of no harm coming to her gets a little ambiguous.

Maybe since Surma was the medium, tricking Rey was too much of a biased action. She's supposed to keep both the court and the forest balanced out and under some sort of control but by taking Rey, did something too much in the court's interest and that broke some sort of rule. She was just free to go back and forth whenever she wanted but keeping someone from the forest prisoner has got to be a big no no. Even if Coyote knows and doesn't seem to make a big deal out of it now, we can't be too sure of what might happen. Also, Annie isn't the medium of the court, they officially have no medium, so that's probably part of the reason she just can't waltz on in there without informing anyone first. Under that rule, she's still just any other student. Daughter of the last medium or not. The court could see this as a trick or a way to start a fight against the forest. Surma and the court keeping Rey could've put an even greater strain on the forest and the court's relations and Annie staying over the summer could also put even more strain on it. Because it's not just our heroes who have to deal with this, it's everyone in the forest and everyone in the court who are put at risk if somebody breaks the rules and doesn't go through proper protocol.

I think... I think Annie might be turned into a forest creature for the summer. I agree. Perhaps a small animal like a squirrel or ferret.

"And then she woke up and it was all a dream." That would qualify as trolling. Tom wouldn't troll us, that's Kubo Tite's shtick.

I think the turn to greyscale is a sign that someone wants a private chat with Annie. I see four possible entities. From most to least likely, they are: Coyote, possibly making comments that he doesn't want Jones to hear. Muut, or one of the other guides, warning Annie about staying in the forest. Renard or Kat, going to give Annie a 'what the hell' speech. Possibly a message from a parent? This is what I love about this web comic. Just when you think there are no more surprises or revelations in a chapter and it's just winding down, it throws another one at us. Bravo Tom. I think... I think Annie might be turned into a forest creature for the summer. Another possibility. My money is on either a fox, as Coyote may see Annie as a temporary replacement to Renard and foxes have been associated with fire in mythology , or a wolf, because it has been mentioned that in Alchemy, Antimony is sometimes represented by a wolf (this is why the doll Annie got from Surma is a wolf). *toc* *toc* Oh great, Gillitie Forest.exe froze up again. Coyote, could you restart it, please? oh, no! is the forest turning into a blue screen? Coyote tried to divide by zero for giggles.

Ooh, Muut would make a lot of sense instead of the wild theories that popped into my head when I saw the page, namely "gosh golly ANTHONY?!" Which is ridiculous but there you have it. I think I may just be desperate to see him. Also, possibly Brinnie?
