Who else thinks Coyote's reaction to all this is most likely to be a giant "LAUGHING ON LINE."

That would be the worst thing.
Well no, the worst thing would be Annie running OFF the bridge.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I wonder who'll come flying out the gates when the alarm goes off? Eglamore again? Who else thinks Coyote's reaction to all this is most likely to be a giant "LAUGHING ON LINE." He's sad that Surma's gone. I've never seen him joke about people dying (thankfully). Seems he's not *that* much of a prick.

Although I really think I'm wrong, part of me really hopes that Coyote says something to 1) alleviate this burden from Annie by saying something positive about Surma and 2) point out that it he had nothing to do with Surma (and her own) powers.
Unfortunately, to me at least, this whole thing screams that Coyote had some hand in all this. Imperfect gifts indeed...

Spending the summer in the Forest? Don't think anyone has called that so far...
Seriously, though, I seem to remember Tom mentioning somewhere that any human entering the forest unannounced wouldn't survive very long.
ETA: Or maybe she'll have enough sense to throw up a sky symbol.

I was actually hoping she would go to the forest. In spite of all of Coyote's quirks, he is my favorite character. I'm betting she makes is across the bridge... then Parley and Smitty teleport her back to the Court. It may be wishful thinking on the last part. >_>
Also, her hair is sooo leaning towards the etheric on this page.
*Wild Speculation* She spends her summer in the Forest.
**EDIT** I WAS NINJA'D!!!!

Reality go SCHHLOOOOORRRP
Annie just wants to go away, to get away from everything that ever reminded her of her mother, her family.. everything. She just wants to find someplace where she can hide and bawl her eyes out. Once she's done licking her wounds, she'll be able to think clearer again. .. we'll see if she manages to get through this safely though..
Methinks Annie needs a hug real bad.

Max, your link needs a bit of fixing. [redirected to 2 pages earlier, whoops]

Who else thinks Coyote's reaction to all this is most likely to be a giant "LAUGHING ON LINE." Not me. I suppose, that how Coyote will have after that the ally in the GC, or we will see soon how mr. Eglamore are stopping her at the bridge. Or all of that things at same time... P.S.: Coyote isn't an idiot and is not "man" without the heart.

Something tells me this is exactly the sort of thing Coyote has been hoping for.
Love the warping effect here.

Unfortunately, to me at least, this whole thing screams that Coyote had some hand in all this. Imperfect gifts indeed... Yeah, it is suspicious isn't it? His gifts do have a tendency to backfire. This does shed some light on why Reynardine might have wanted to kill Annie in the Prison, doesn't it? He'd had a night for his sorrow and loss to simmer and turn to anger and hatred. After all, the thing we all forget is that Rey thought Somah loved him, which means he might have escaped that night with intention of finding her and "rekindling their love." Learning that the person who'd kept him hoping in prison for five years had died, and the murderer was standing in front of him, had to be very hard on the guy.

Who else thinks Coyote's reaction to all this is most likely to be a giant "LAUGHING ON LINE." Isn't that his reaction to most things? Awesome how Tom's drawing twists everything all over the place to show Annie's state of mind. It was pretty cool in the earlier pages where it was nice and subtle, but here it's just bizarre. Annie MAY get stopped by Eglamore (in a chapter about Surma, he's likely to show up eventually), but he has no reason to be expecting this. In all likelihood, she'll be across the river bawling out the story to Coyote and asking if it's true before he can get to her. Which... could lead to all sorts of problems.

Also, she can probably fly with her etheric abilities, by now?
(This would make sense since we were explecitely shown Surma doing it in the beginning of the chapter, conservation of details and all that).

Bah, all I can envision is Annie running up sobbing to Coyote with something along the lines of "I killed my mum!", only to be met with "BAHAHAHA!!! Oh wait, you're serious? ... HAHAHAHAHA."
Perhaps I've just taken too strongly to the mention of Coyote being like 4chan personified.

I suppose she might want to go to Coyote because she knows he doesn't lie. Otherwise it seems weird that Coyote would be her first choice to run to with this. She does see his flaws (such as abusing Ysengrin's trust the last time she was in the forest).
But Annie... Coyote is no liar. Therein lies the danger.
I'm a bit surprised she didn't go to Anja or Jones. Not at all surprised that she wouldn't go to Eglamore by choice, although he may show up to stop her here.

I think Coyote would be nicer than that, cos a sad crying lil girl really ain't that fun. My guess is that he'll be nice and comforting like in the chapter when Annie went to the forest. Then slowly get more Coyote-ish as Annie feels better.
Whatever it is will probably reveal more stuff though.

Perhaps going into the forest unannounced will precipitate a very serious "coming of age", indeed. Forget menarche, she's going to have to grow up fast and kick some serious butt.

I think it would be interesting to see how Eglamore treats the situation if he tries to intervene. Annie seems to run to the forest for comfort a lot.
Again commending Tom on the artwork. I absolutely love how he draws architecture.

I don't know if this will end well. I just don't trust Coyote, and now there's no Eglamore waiting in the wings just in case.
I'm still waiting for some FIRE! But hopefully not too much.

I love that through all this sadness Tom fails to say anything witty. It really helps show that these are serious pages. Not that there was a problem noticing that
Also, if Annie's intending to fly across the bridge, Tom's going to have to do it very well...ly. Superman doesn't cry.

I don't think Coyote will laugh at all. Remember when he first met Annie and found out her mother was dead? He went from his normal HAHA LAUGH AT EVERYTHING to being very serious, telling Annie he was sorry to hear that, and saying that Surma was a fine woman. Of course right after that Annie had to give him the spankies, but for a moment he was quite mature and serious. I think if Annie comes to him crying, he won't laugh at her. (at least, not at first - he'll cheer her up THEN laugh at her ) edit: Here's the link: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=275So I guess he did laugh rudely at first, but once Annie addressed him he settled down and was quite nice.

I hope she spends the summer in the forest. That would further the whole in between court and forest, medium thing she has going. She would understand the forest people better - and I wouldn't mind finding out more about what the forest "community" is like either.
