Woah, I really was not expecting her to relish it this much. Jesus Annie, sadistic much? And "How could she ever love a creature like you?" Oh my going too far.

Maybe this is another case of Not-Annie. I realize she isn't a perfect angel, but this just seems... way too out of character.

After these past few strips, I don't want to see Annie referred to as "emotionless" ever again.

This is perfectly in character and completely predictable. People say mean stuff when they're angry and insulted.

and now we get to find out what happens if you rib a semi-divine spirit with a penchant for bad decision making.
Where's my popcorn.

Yikes! Either brain spiders can travel through air like germs or Annie's being unnecessarily cruel. What's that? Oh, I'm getting word that brain spiders are not an airborne illness so Annie really is being unnecessarily cruel. Guess I can put the Airbourne away. I wanna give Annie a break because Rey was touching a nerve but this is beyond mean. Can wolf plushies cry? I think we're gonna find out pretty soon.

Harsh, but dude's been ragging her dad something fierce. He had it coming. Maybe, but Annie seems to be getting too much joy out it... She knows he's suffering through this and is enjoying it... That kinda steps it down from justified payback, to kind of sadistic and cruel.

This is perfectly in character and completely predictable. People say mean stuff when they're angry and insulted. It's not so much the hurtful things she is saying, it's the amount to which she's relishing in it that disturbs me. Not just in one moment, but the entire page. and now we get to find out what happens if you rib a semi-divine spirit with a penchant for bad decision making. I am pretty sure Tom said that Renard cannot actually harm Annie. Rey said as much in 81

Well, that shattered my little bubble of hope.
Hands down cold, hands down cruel. And she's forcing him to stay in toy-shape, where she's less likely to take him seriously (eta: in his demeanour, I mean). Plus it's the toy Surma made. He might even want out of that body.

For everyone who finds this comic remotely surprisingly or excessive: did you never blow up at your parents or siblings as a kid?

Should mention, that bubble of hope was about Surma, not Annie. Oh, man...

Well, I've another thought about this. Perhaps she's been trying too hard to upkeep her image, so she's been surpressing all her anger, frustration and so on?

This is perfectly in character and completely predictable. People say mean stuff when they're angry and insulted. Annie doesn't really have a propensity for blowing things out of proportion to such flabbergasting heights, in my opinion. I understand that Renard was poking something of a sore spot but she is essentially being as cruel as possible to a being who has been nothing but supportive, protective, and nurturing toward her over homework. What's more, she is clearly enjoying this. That is not anger.

Oh, wait. I thought he was transforming into wolf shape, but on second look he's turning into the original toy. He's trying to avoid talking to her further and being hurt further.

Annie doesn't really have a propensity for people close to her calling her dad a worthless deadbeat - the last time it happened she was too surprised to be angry. It is completely understandable that this would make her really angry. The fact that he's previously been supportive doesn't enter into it! Did you never get really mad at your parents? As for enjoying it, that doesn't mean it's not anger. Annie's enjoying this because it is revenge for hurting her. This is how normal people act.

Sure I argued with my parents, but I was never even close to this cruel toward them, and I wouldn't consider it normal if someone had.

It appears that Annie is not only developing curves but is growing into a moody teenager who is quite capable of lashing out at those who care about her. We've all.... well most.... have gone through this and I believe we are seeing a very bad mood swing. Poor Renard..... he really didn't deserve this.... EVEN with his prod at her Dad. Touching a sore spot isn't equivalent to ripping a guys heart out.
*note: This is my first post ever, but I'm an avid reader of the forums. Three pages a week just isn't enough....

It's not a nice thing to do, or even a reasonable thing to do generally, but it's reasonable in terms of the character. I believe she's still feeling a fair bit of guilt and awkwardness over both Jack and cheating, although she's been hiding it, but when Rey came in and added to that guilt as well as talking crap about her dad, it pushed her over the edge.

I was right about Annie yelling, kind of. Though this seems less like smug casually and more like smug super-villainy.

Naw, naw, let's not fight over who was a moody teen or not themselves, we've gotta focus on Annie's outburst! At one point, even if we don't remember it, we've all done something like this. It's an ugly thing to do, experience, and watch others do, enjoying what you're inflicting on someone. But it IS understandable, Annie's allowed to wig out every now and then, kid's got a lot on her plate. It seems cruel now (at least to me it does) but hopefully, Annie'll snap back to reality and apologize. And Rey should too, he brought this outburst upon himself.

Oh no! A cruel face! The cruelest face! Wha- I mean… wha- Annie Rey is having a nightmare maybe? Or Annie was really under pressure to explode like this. I can understand the anger, but the cruel pleasure? Sad page is sad
