Heh.
That last panel is ten kinds of ominous. Something is amiss.
Also, Annie's expression in the third last panel...

We knew something ominous was going on two panels ago - now they know. And can at least think of ways to help. Also part of Parley's paranormal power package (ahem) turns out to include some ability to tune into Annie's astral jaunt. Interesting.

Poor Parley, unwittingly carrying a huge sign "I've got the hots for Smitty!"

I KNEW that Parley's abilities wouldn't be just limited to teleportation! I just knew it! She can sense something is going on... I can't wait to find out what!

Heh. That last panel is ten kinds of ominous. Something is amiss.I think it's because Kat came up behind Parley and went all Kancho Assassin on her.

Yeah Parley knows something bad's happening...she's tuned in even more than we may have imagined. Great storytelling from the maestro here.

Imma gonna go out on a limb and guess that Parley is just surprised that Carver is in some sorta trance state. No clues yet about danger.
Smitty has never seen her use the stone before, I would guess neither has Parley Parley.

Hmm, it looks like Parley has never seen Annie use the stone hence her comment. But the reaction upon touching her makes it seem like she can feel/sense something off.
Also, notice Annie's face in the seventh panel. Looks like we've finally caught up to the time Annie realizes she's stuck.

Or something halfway; Parley knows something is wrong, because Annie is now falling over. You can see her head dropping in the second to last panel.

Parley/Smith confrontation went much smoother than expected. I am almost disappointed.

Also, notice Annie's face in the seventh panel. Looks like we've finally caught up to the time Annie realizes she's stuck. I thought that was probably her seeing Jeanne's remains. Her eyebrow in the seventh panel doesn't seem to match any of the ones on 768. Of course, one of them is mostly obscured ... anyway, it's hard for me to tell how much time is passing in the pages where Antimony's looking around.

Hi, I'm new here. I like Gunnerkrigg Court. Here are my thoughts on today's comic. Muut: "Lost, stranded in the aether, [Jeanne] needs a hand like yours to be an anchor." www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=531Maybe it works the other way too, and by touching Annie, Parley was brought to the location of Annie's ethereal self. That, or it's that Annie is effectively in two places at once, and it's a way to guide Parley's teleportation. Either way, Parley now being in the ravine might explain why the last panel doesn't show the background.

Either way, Parley now being in the ravine might explain why the last panel doesn't show the background. This is basically what I thought. The extreme close-up in the last panel suggests that perhaps Tom doesn't want us to realise Parley has teleported to another location, as well as show her expression of shock, possibly brought on by said teleportation. I figure that Parley is trying to talk to Annie, and unconsciously teleports to where the 'real' Annie is, i.e. her etheric self, not just her body.

And Jeanne's real/non-etheric sword is very conveniently right there.
Also: where has Parley's popcorn gone? This could be very important because, um ... I'll think of something.

It's obvious what will happen, right? Real-Annie falls over and off the school grounds, alarms sound and George fights Jeanne.
... ok maybe not.

I wonder if Antimony could channel George's sword-fighting abilities to help her deal with Jeanne.
Bonus points if there is a running stream of fight commentary from George.
George: "Use the force, Carver." Antimony: "Um, what?" George: "You need to use more force! Swing your sword like you want to chop that ghost into little bits!"

That's number one reason why Annie rolls eyes, after all. But now these two are in the hands of a shipper, and didn't realize this yet. ;D It looks like Annie's fainting. Maybe she's clammy to the touch. Or she just began to topple. Slowly. While still in this mostly wooden stance. Either way, Parley now being in the ravine might explain why the last panel doesn't show the background. Now that's pretty stalky. I missed this. However, considering that she still seems to look down, while the bright reflection on her hair moved down from the previous panel - she have to lean in the opposite direction. Thus, i'd say she expected some resistance pulling Annie's shoulder and now they are careening back together. This would perfectly fit the face she makes. I figure that Parley is trying to talk to Annie, and unconsciously teleports to where the 'real' Annie is, i.e. her etheric self, not just her body. Or maybe another blinker-Parley-Smitty interference. Someone else thinks there is some swordly showdown looming in the future, where George opens a can of whoopazz on Jeanne? Given that she haven't any sword right now, her choice would be to jump back and get one or to pick up Jeanne's real blade from her skeleton. This could turn the whole scene into some sort of black comedy, unless relevant details are skipped, which would feel wrong. Also: where has Parley's popcorn gone? This could be very important because, um ... I'll think of something. Somewhere on the steps, to the left from her landing spot (behind Andrew), probably. Why?

Also: where has Parley's popcorn gone? This could be very important because, um ... I'll think of something. Clearly Parley Sr., aside from being an accomplished psychic, also possessed the remarkable talent to consume large amounts of junk food in record time; A talent that has now been passed down to his 'son' George. Or, yeah. perhaps its just slightly outta frame.
