According to the internet, "cadena blanko" means "white chain."

Some detention Annie has.
Re: the hairstyle. One of the things I like about GKC is that the characters' appearance actually keeps changing. Not only they wear more than one set of clothes, but they even change hairstyles!

How can there be haircutting without there being a whole chapter about it! I feel robbed.

According to the internet, "cadena blanko" means "white chain." Paz = Peace, Cadena = chain, Blanco = white Interesting, although likely meaningless. Cadena and Blanco are both perfectly common Hispanic names, just like White is a perfectly normal English name. It is likely that Paz's family follows the traditional Spanish naming convention of first name paternal name-maternal name, so it would be just as appropriate to call her "Paz Cadena" ( Peace Chain).

NOOOO! NOT THE HAIR! I wanted to comment on the comic before last about how much I loved Kat's long hair, but I didn't think it was worth making a post just for that, and now it's gone! *sobs*

I'm going to bet on the long shot and say she's off to have what TVtropes, in a rare moment of lucidity, would call an important haircut. Well. I didn't think I was actually going to be right.

Good call! :-) I'm surprised at the drama over Kat's hair. It's not like she lost an arm or something! I think it's just more likely she realized, "Hey, I've got some serious design work to do. All this hair is going to get in my way. It's gotta go." Or for the more cynical among you, "I've turned into an emotionally unstable, inconsiderate, and generally irritating little girl who can't design well anymore. I've really let myself go. Time for a rewind; old Kat is coming back."

Clearly, this is proof that Kat's hair makes her evil. If she were to shave her head, she'd ascend to true angel-hood.

Time for a rewind; old Kat is coming back." Well, her hair started getting longer after the end of S1, at about the same time that she lost faith in the Court. Now that she's got some of that back—or at least a more reasonable view of the place, as a large organization with good parts and bad ones—the hair had to come off.

Do you think her not getting a haircut all that time may have had something to do with the fact that a robot--one with lots of sharp appendages--is the one that does haircuts?

(Interrestingly, "chain", from French "chaine", has the same etymology than "cadena" (both from Latin "catena")
(Whoah, I just happen to be listening to a song called "Chain" right now, on the OST of Vision of Escaflowne)
Wooo, haircut! *pretends he didn't have to look again to notice it*

Whoever cited the TVTropes "important haircut" part definitely nailed it. I had a good mental chuckle at that realization.
And it fits - we're moving away from emoKat to ClassicKat. Expect some robotic awesomeness in the very near future.

Clearly, this is proof that Kat's hair makes her evil. If she were to shave her head, she'd ascend to true angel-hood. No. Not evil. Longer hair just makes Kat act like a butt. When it is short, Kat is not a butt, but when it is long, Kat is a butt.

When you made that prediction, I was like "where where on earth did that come from? There hasn't been any indication whatsoever that she might cut her hair. That's a bizarre thing to guess." And then today I was like "oh snaps they were right".

If that hair makes Kat evil, I don't want her to be good! The real question is, if this Important Haircut makes such a significant change in Kat's perspective and behavior, what would one do for Annie? Not that I want to see Annie with short hair (I love her long hair) but something tells me that if it ever were to happen, major changes would be afoot or about to happen. And they wouldn't all be roses and happiness.

It's nice to see Kat with short hair again, it's been a long long time. So what do we reckon: Cue a dramatic mechanical montage as Kat creates a new body for S13 complete with working wings?

I'm going to put down for that one Ulysses. On a side note, I've often imagined an older Annie with a hairstyle not unlike Jones'. Or a short style based off her ponytail look, with that long freeflowing lock coming off her bangs. We've seen Surma with both short and long hair - notice in the end of S1, she'd taken all that long hair off that she had in her younger years in Ties? But then, as she got even older, she grew it back out again. I've been through a phase like that myself - had really long hair, nearly waist-length until I went to college. After I graduated, I'd had enough of it, and spent probably the last 10 years off and on with short hair of varying lengths. Now I'm growing it back out again, feeling like I want to go back to my roots.

Callidus, I agree.
What's wrong with Robot's other body? It looks fine with clothes on and it's even got a pretty unique look: the vertical eyes for one. It's not like it's broken either.
