Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, Kat! I've been missing her. Me too, actually. Maybe Kat is depressed because she hasn't been getting any screentime this chapter...

Not so much emo, I think, but rather in deep thoughts. Most likely about the new body for Robot she's building (notice the screw driver). I expect her going nearly full-fledged mad scientist, and some further exposition about Diego along the way.

Yay Kat ;D
I'm guessing she's going to have an identity crisis of sorts over the Diego thing.

A bad start to what, I wonder.
Any focus on Kat is welcome in my book. I hope this chapter is properly about Kat and she doesn't take a back seat to other plot threads again.

I too, first saw Emo Kat. On second glance, I realized: Hey! She's posed like The Thinker!

Kat! Can't wait to see more of her, but the foreboding title page is a bit worrying... Hugs? The answer is always hugs.

Yay new chapter!
Yay Kat!
D:
Nooooooo Kat, don't be depressed D:
(also, depressed is not emo; emo is whiming about being depressed, while being depressed is... uh, being depressed mostly... silently?)

"A Bad Start" My first thought was (I hate to admit) that this referred to the bad start Kat & Jack had in their relationship, and now they'll be back on the road to raising their eyebrows at each other. My second (and I believe more likely) thought is that it probably refers to the bad (as in evil) start of Gunnerkrigg Court, the revelations of which affected negatively Kat's disposition.

Nice, it looks like we're going to get more time with Kat to see how she's been dealing with what she knows now (and her awareness of how much this means to the GC robots).

Hooray for Thinker tinker Kat! The comic could definitely use more of her. It's been ages since we've seen her in action (not just "Spring Heeled" but also "Old Dog's Tricks")

In a little bit, a man named Auguste Rodin will see Kat and be struck by inspiration!... What? It could happen...

I thought it might be Kat's efforts at creating an android (like Jones totally isn't) that had a Bad Start. Although making Robot's new body seems more likely now that it's been suggested.
Mind you, knowing Kat, the two options are probably one and the same.

So I guess there's little ambiguity as to how this will go.
I mean, at least in the beginning.

I'm guessing she's going to have an identity crisis of sorts over the Diego thing. ...which she have to dwell on while working on his designs? Probably. Though if she's just frustrated because of her inability to match his... unconventional methods, now she may have more than one way of dealing with it. My first thought was (I hate to admit) that this referred to the bad start Kat & Jack had in their relationship, and now they'll be back on the road to raising their eyebrows at each other. My second (and I believe more likely) thought is that it probably refers to the bad (as in evil) start of Gunnerkrigg Court, the revelations of which affected negatively Kat's disposition. Same here. I suspect that Tom meant more than one thing and the current development points to both these possibilities. She may feel bad because of screaming at Jack while he was possessed, even though at this time he wasn't up to something nasty, quite the opposite. Thus making things worse instead of helping. Also, this shiptease starts at #450 - aside of constant glances, the main conversation was between Kat and Jack.

Also, this shiptease starts at #450 - aside of constant glances, the main conversation was between Kat and Jack. Also Jack may remember some of what the spider found - remember how he was digging through loads of secret Court info? - and he will reveal things to Kat about Diego and the whole story there. These things may not make Kat any happier. (but they will make me happy if there is any sort of explanation of what happened to Jeanne!) In any case, I'm willing to bet that a good chunk of this chapter will involve interactions between Kat and Jack. (and Annie too, but that goes without saying) I don't think we're going to see Zimmy and Gamma again for a little while. I wonder where Jack is sleeping everything off? Back in his bunk? In the Court "jail" if there is one? In Annie or Kat's bunk?!

I wonder where Jack is sleeping everything off? Back in his bunk? In the Court "jail" if there is one? In Annie or Kat's bunk?! I'm sure the Court has its ways. Jack will probably end up safely back in his own room. Actually, it would be interesting and entirely in character if the Court attempted to pass off the situation as Jack's own elaborate dream, even though I highly doubt this is the case; several students know too much and many more have seen too much for this to just get swept under a rug. In response to the title page, I'm interested to see more about Kat. We haven't seen much from her perspective for a long time, and I'd love to know what's going on in that cute little head of hers.

I thought maybe it would be about Kat in younger days, since she has longer hair and different shoes. However, I'm almost invariably wrong, so this time I'm going to choose to believe that isn't the subject at all!
No, no, this is really going to be the dramatic story of how Kat grew her hair out that long against some adversity and then teased it into that memorable shape using a screwdriver rather than a curling iron, guest-starring a tough, no-nonsense woman from the American South as the hair-teasing instructor. Musical numbers shall be interspersed throughout.

Yeah!! I love music in webcomics. You too, eh? I just find that it's so much more satisfying to read and see visual depictions of music than to actually hear it. Alas, my dreams are doomed to failure, because of course she's been growing it out since before chapter 24 and it really would be that length now. Sigh.
