I think this is Zimmy's Crowning Moment of Awesome. I've never seen her so collected.

Well she did enjoy the idea of squishing spiders last time.
That was mad cool Zimmy, mad cool.

So, was Jack genuinely asking Zimmy out or was the arane making a last ditch attempt at whatever its plan was?

That splat is one of the most satisfying things about this chapter.

I didn't....expect the spider to...
(I'm sorry, I still can't register Zimmy's level of ownage this chapter.)

I think this is Zimmy's Crowning Moment of Awesome. I've never seen her so collected. She just seems so at peace yet totally in control of what's going on

With the last page I felt like things were making sense again, and now...
I AM SO CONFUSED.
Of course, it's 3:07 AM here... maybe this will make sense once I've slept.

LAUGHING ON LINE, I love how what remains of SpiderJack uses a pickup line on Zimmy.
Sorta creepy, and yet sorta funny. Like she would go out and have a pizza or something.
Post-spider Jack on the other hand, seems to be a more sympathetic character, being all dazed and needing a shoulder to um, sleep on?

Did Zimmy just heal him? Is Jack back to normal now?

Other than ensure that the situation didn't get any further out of hand, I'm not sure that Annie did much there. But there's a good argument that she didn't have to.
We'll have to see what happens to Jack at this point.

you know, after having been on a roller coaster for a couple of weeks, getting off the ride, and having a relatively normal, slow-moving comedy page, is almost a letdown. ALMOST. the *splat* prevents that from happening.
and note that we still don't have the Antimony Icon at the lower right, so there's at least one more page of this on Monday.
on the plus side, can't think of anything conspiratorial about a) SpiderJack's last-ditch attempt to get on Zimmy's good side b) Zimmy's self-assured bug splat or c) the tender "aw, cute" moment which follows.
unless you're the ZimXJack type.

I wonder what caused the spider to still be present and visible in non-etheric reality.
One possibility that I can think of is that in this portion of the chapter, we've been shown things (like Zimmy's Annie illusion) that other characters (namely Gamma) don't see. So it stands to reason that the opposite could be true too: that the spider isn't actually visible, but that we are shown it because Zimmy can see it. Sort of the same way that we saw Annie's etheric projection pushing the boat, but her ether-self wasn't visible by normal means even though it was shown (based on the fact that Jack remarked that he could see her when she does that, indicating that normally a person wouldn't.)

I don't know what Tom is talking about. That last panel? Totally romantic. Plus, this means all Jack wanted was a date! jk
This and the last chapter have been the most dramatic for me. Right after waiting to find out if Reynard would get captured there's this mindscrew that still hasn't been completely explained yet.
Zimmy destroyed the spider and Jack lost consciousness, I wonder what that implies about the level of control the spider had over him.

Yeah, Jack going like that seems to imply that the spider was controlling him completely. Think of woozy Jack there as a ship whose helmsman has been thrown overboard.

I would add to that: it's still sprinkling a little, so that might have helped. and Annie could see Jack's spider webbing at the end of Spring Heeled, Part 1. also, once you know that something's there, wouldn't that make it easier to grab it?

Yes, Jack would now be back to normal.
I love Zimmy's Smile, and her eyes. She really is a great person as long as it's raining, or if you've gotten to know her already. Zimmy is like the "Creepy Annie" Hahaha Hope Zimmy will be well after the rain stops, All that Lack of sleep, and Etheric Over Heating can't be good for anyone.

Yeah, Jack going like that seems to imply that the spider was controlling him completely. Think of woozy Jack there as a ship whose helmsman has been thrown overboard. or a drug addict. it's something that controls a person's actions and emotions, and the person suffers withdrawl when it's removed. (EDIT: it's an unfair comparison because there's no evidence that Jack asked for it, but there it is. Jack was "under the influence" )

Heh, that works too, jim. You could say the spider had him on a constant high and its sudden absence (and the loss of said high) was too much.

Well that's the end of that. It seems like they could have avoided this whole mess if Zimmy had just popped that spider when Jack got hijacked on the roof in the first place, back in the power station chapter, but then I guess that wouldn't have been as interesting.
It also seems awfully convenient that it started raining when it did, and I think it a stretch to assume that Jones could have timed it so precisely on purpose (assuming that it was the result of Jones radioing the power plant and not just regular, naturally-occurring rain, which would almost be even more unbelievable).
