Maybe everyone does have shipping goggles . Seriously though, Tom was leading everyone on there. Paz is eyeing the letter though

Ah, we posted the same title too, daaang! I'll delete mine. Look how the mice crawl all over Bobby, so cute! SO. CUTE. Kat's nose is particularly round in panel two; I really just wanna boop it. Looks like Paz either recognizes the letter or sees it might be something important. Ships aside, I hope Paz and Kat patch things up properly. I'm sad Kat hasn't visited in awhile, presumably over the whole situation in the Faraway Morning. Where's a pair of wire clippers to click menacingly when I need to tell people to be friends? BE FRIENDS!

The trolling, the non-stop trolling. Its like the 4th pirates of the Caribbean movie you get so use to jacks craziness that its easy to predict. toms trolling is now starting to get predictable.

Huh. What's "imaginaryfriend" a substitute for? Not a substitute, a username. It's also a mnemonic that reminds me that the internet can act as a barrier to communication, looking at it every time I post helps me keep a useful attitude.

Agreed on both. reminds me that the internet can act as a barrier to communication, looking at it every time I post helps me keep a useful attitude. It's merely a variant of old "or are they expecting me to assume that is not true?" infinite reduction. Once you realize it... I mean, welcome, welcome.

The only problem I have with this is that I didn't even remember that there existed someone named Bobby.
Otherwise, it's just brilliant, the way Tom plays with our expectations.

Labs are the most worthy of username names! Because they're wonderful.

Adding another dart to the dartboard.
I think Paz has seen a letter like that before, but I don't think she wrote it to Kat on the basis that that if she had she wouldn't be so calm and cool seeing Kat holding it.
So, either she helped Bobby write it, as she may be more articulate than Bobby, or, going back to my Lindsey theory, got something similar

In an ordinary story I'd totally expect for Kat and Paz to end up together anyway, especially after today's comic. Paz would realise that all that robot worship business was bothering Kat. She'd be a good friend about it and talk to her and thus help her get over it. And then one thing would lead to another. But this being Gunnerkrigg Court, I'll refrain from making predictions. I may have guessed right before but that's been more luck than anything else. You just never know with Tom, and that's why we love him so much! Edit: On a side note I like how Paz and Kat are still slightly flustered/embarrassed when talking to each other. Makes them more believable characters that they can't put that incident behind them too easily.

given Tom's current level of trollness, she's just gonna check up on Cityface then she's going to confront the true author of the letter, who is no other than Frank, that Dude who sits behind her in Biology class, who we've never seen before and will never see again
Seriously though, Bobby?! That'd be weird. She's the angel/messiah/Kwisatz Haderach. You don't have a crush on your angel/messiah/Kwisatz Haderach.

You know what would be really hilarious at this point? If Kat closed the door and asked Bobby: "Do you know if Paz has been writing long letters, lately?"

What's that on the back of Bobby's head? I'll guess that it's a thermal sensor for finding small lost mammals. Seriously though, Bobby?! That'd be weird. She's the angel/messiah/Kwisatz Haderach. You don't have a crush on your angel/messiah/Kwisatz Haderach. He did witness that whole conversation between Paz and Kat back in ch. 29 wherein Kat squirted some tears. Likely Kat identified him as the author through some sort of reference to that sequence of events or related topics. Sidenote for Kat/Paz shippers: Given the "youthful misunderstandings" theme and the examples of romance we've seen in the comic I think the best you can realistically hope for is the following sequence of events... 1. Paz mistakes the love-letter in Kat's hand as something Kat will give to Paz, but then sees that Kat is returning it to Bobby. 2. Paz, bracing self to repulse Kat's romantic advance, instead gets ego bruise as Kat continues to avoid Paz. 3. Paz (over a period of time) engages in semi-flirty behavior in an attempt to get Kat's attention back without really knowing why she's doing it. 4. Kat misunderstands and thinks that the previous misunderstanding has blown over and acts friendly with Paz. 5. At some point Kat compliment's Paz' appearance in a similar way as in the previous misunderstanding. 6. Paz receives ego boost and tosses Kat's "second lesbian advance" back in Kat's face. Paz loses any and all interest in being Kat's friend. 7. Kat is left speechless. 8. Antimony bitches out Paz, Paz implies that Antimony and Kat are a couple (or on the way to being that). Fight escalates. 9. Nobody's speaking to anyone and Kat feels like Boxbot. 10. The robots construct a giant catapult to fire Paz into the Annan chasm in retaliation. Everyone eventually gets over it.

Whoa, hey. Aren't we still jumping to conclusions? Paz eyed that letter pretty hard. Just because Bobby wrote it doesn't necessarily mean he did it independently.

Likely Kat identified him as the author through some sort of reference to that sequence of events or related topics. That's what I'm saying. He's part of "her" cult, they met exactly once (on panel, admittedly possible/likely Kat and Annie came by sometime). With the information we currently have (which is very little) it wouldn't make sense that Bobby's the author.

Someone on the comments page pointed this out, and it now seem glaringly obvious. Kat is wearing a huge ass jacket with enormous pockets. Yet she chooses to carry the letter. Earlier in the chapter she demonstrated she didn't like the letter being waved around yet now she's flaunting it. With Paz eyeing the letter and Kat carrying it makes me think she's testing Paz in some way

He's part of "her" cult, they met exactly once (on panel, admittedly possible/likely Kat and Annie came by sometime). I would think that meeting would give Bobby a sense of increased familiarity with Kat. Whatever he thinks an angel is, he's spoken with Kat in a casual setting and seen her contradicted and possibly change her mind on something. Also if Paz asked Bobby why he called Kat angel she might have tried to convince him that she isn't. And wasn't struck down by lightnings or attacked by mythological tocs. 1. Paz mistakes the love-letter in Kat's hand as something Kat will give to Paz, but then sees that Kat is returning it to Bobby. 2. Paz, bracing self to repulse Kat's romantic advance, instead gets ego bruise as Kat continues to avoid Paz. 3. Added on further reflection: 5.1 Internet faps furiously. 6.5 Autocorrect filter is changed to modify /c o/ into "butt hurt zone" or possibly "blue ball sector."

If I've learned to properly predict the subtle nature of Tom's writing style, I think Bobby will hand Kat a map with the location of the letter sender.
